Winter Forager - Wild Edibles "Weed" Walk at the Farm

Saturday, Feb. 8th 10am

Want to learn how to feed yourself and your family with food that is exceptionally nutrient-rich, delicious, and FREE? In these uncertain times, living as a society that relies on a completely artificial system (even for our most basic needs) with foundations that are shakier than ever before... connecting with the real, natural world we live in is deeply empowering and comforting.

Experience the peaceful, joyful meditation of acquiring your food while walking on the earth, the wind delighting your skin and the sun warming your body, fresh air filling your lungs, harvesting living plants that are so much fresher than anything from the grocery store. Truly know where your food comes from!

We will take a plant walk all over the land to gather the special wild edibles of late winter in North Texas.  You will learn about them and be able to taste them as we go!

You will receive recipes and ideas for feeding yourself and your family from the land.  Class investment is $30 per person.  We are also open to partial or full barters (contact walk organizer here for details).  Children are welcome to attend (8 and under at no cost); please ask about family pricing.

What to bring:

Wear comfortable walking shoes or boots (the farm may be muddy if it rains).  Bring a canvas bag to collect edibles as we walk, your own bowl and utensils to enjoy a wild green salad we will create from our bounty, and a camera if you'd like to photo the edibles we discover!

Regular Market Days are every 1st and 3rd Saturday April - December

Weekday Farm Tours!

Teaching others about small local farming and personal nutrition is one of our passions here at Eden's. We feel that education is important in helping people strive to live healthier more fully independent lives.

Bring your group to Eden's Garden CSA Farm for an educational  farm tour experience and learn about sustainable farming/gardening, food preparation, farm animals' place on the farm, take a scenic walk to see our honey bees, and stay for a special extended unit on honey bees or earthworms (Extra unit optional.).

One of our farmers will guide you around the farm for an interactive tour. Get up close with chickens, roosters, sheep, livestock guard dogs and horses; observe a working farm with guided tour of the gardens, bee hives, chicken coops, and horse barn.

Pack a picnic lunch and eat under the old oak trees and enjoy an afternoon away from the city - just down the road.
